Screen grab of the posts shared by Norwegian Air
Doha, Qatar: As the World Cup pressure intensifies, so do the bets on teams that might win. The corporate rivalry between two airlines has spilled onto social media, with both wagering their Instagram logos for a day if their team wins.
Ahead of the Norway-England showdown at midnight on Sunday, July 12, Norwegian Air and British Airways took to social media, putting their logos on the line.
Norwegian Air threw down the challenge, asking British Airways if it was ready to risk its logo stating, "Hey @british_airways, do you wanna make a bet?
If Norway wins, you have to switch to our logo on Instagram on Sunday (one day). And vice versa. Deal?"
Not one to back down, the UK carrier replied, "Don't make bets you can't win."
Quick to respond, Norwegian Air asked if British Airways was too scared to bet.
To which British Airways shot back,"Scared? Nor-way, mate"

The exchange struck a chord online: British Airways' comment drew over 35,000 likes, while the Norwegian Air's post racked up 112K likes and more than 3,400 comments.
Swiss, Finnair, Airbus, ITA Airways, Air India, Icelandair, Riyadh Air soon joined in, dropping popcorn GIFS and comments to stoke the rivalry.
Qatar's tourism authority VisitQatar, even tagged Qatar Airways, writing,"@qatarairways looks like you'll have a front-row seat for this one ????⚽️"
The banter didn't end there, with both airlines posting more videos and photos to mock each other.
Whatever happens on the pitch, one thing's certain: come Sunday, social media followers will be looking at a very different logo on Instagram.
