Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Mechanical Equipment Department, in cooperation with the Training Department, concluded the training programme for students of the College of Mechanical Engineering at University of Doha for Science and Technology, which aimed to provide students with practical experience in the work environment, and enhance their technical and engineering skills, thus contributing to the preparation of qualified national cadres that meet the needs of the labour market.
The closing ceremony was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality Eng. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Karani, Vice President of Student Affairs Fahad bin Abdullah Al Hajri, a number of ministry officials, and representatives from the Training Department and Doha University of Science and Technology.
The ceremony included a visual presentation that reviewed the most prominent stations of the training programme, where the attendees were briefed on the programme’s outcomes and the development achieved by the students in their skills during the training period, in addition to introductory presentations on the departments’ specialisations and their role in supporting municipal services, and providing the opportunity for students to learn about the nature of work in various specialisations.
On this occasion, Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Karani stressed that investing in training and qualifying students represents an investment in the future of the country, and that field training is an essential step in building national competencies, as it provides opportunities to gain practical experience, develop skills, and link the academic aspect to the reality of work.
He also appreciated the efforts of the Mechanical Equipment Department and the Training Department in implementing the programme in cooperation with Doha University of Science and Technology, and their keenness to provide a training environment that contributes to preparing a generation capable of keeping pace with development requirements.
Sharida Sultan Al Rumaihi, Director of the Mechanical Equipment Department, said that the programme comes from the Ministry’s belief in the importance of partnership with educational institutions, and its keenness to provide qualitative training opportunities that enable students to apply their academic knowledge on the ground, and enhance their values of discipline, teamwork, innovation, and taking responsibility.
Eng. Marzouq Sultan Al Kuwari, Head of the Maintenance and Repair Department at the Mechanical Equipment Department, added that the department is constantly keen to support and qualify students, considering them the pillar of the future, pointing out that such programmes contribute to preparing national cadres who possess knowledge and experience, and are able to contribute to developing the work system and municipal services.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the participating students were honoured in appreciation of their excellence and commitment throughout the training period.
