Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) recently organised several events for the International Coaching Week in collaboration with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), under the theme: “Adapt – Evolve – Thrive: Coaching for Resilience in a Changing World”, at the Ministry headquarters.

The week featured a series of insightful discussions and sessions highlighting the latest international practices in professional and leadership coaching and exploring its role in enhancing organisational performance and productivity, strengthening psychological resilience and workplace wellbeing, supporting institutional transformation, and fostering more innovative and sustainable work environments, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030, which places strong emphasis on investing in people.

In his opening remarks, Director of the Human Resources Department at the Ministry of Public Health, Ghanim Ibrahim Al Mohannadi stated that this year’s theme reflects an institutional vision aimed at building more resilient organisations and developing more aware and capable leaders who can adapt to rapidly evolving changes and drive sustainable growth.

He noted that the Ministry continues to strengthen a culture of institutional coaching as a strategic enabler for leadership development and institutional excellence by empowering leaders and national talent, while fostering positive work environments that support innovation and promote mental and professional well-being.

He further emphasised that the Ministry believes that investing in people is fundamental to achieving development and institutional excellence.

This is accomplished through embedding a culture of institutional coaching, empowering leaders and national cadres, and fostering flexible and motivating work environments that encourage innovation, promote mental and professional well-being, and enhance overall quality of work life.

He explained that the Ministry’s coaching journey began in 2018–2019, guided by a vision that genuine investment begins with people and that establishing a sustainable professional culture serves as the foundation of institutional excellence.

Lead of the Institutional Coaching and Career Guidance Programme at the Ministry of Public Health, Mai Abuzenah explained that the Ministry’s coaching programme currently includes 28 internal coaching specialists from diverse fields, including public health, human resources, leadership and institutional development, mental health, and professional development.

They provide both individual and group coaching sessions across a range of areas, including executive leadership, employee empowerment, team building, and institutional performance development.

She added that the Ministry’s strategic partnership with the ICF Doha Chapter over the past four years has contributed to the launch of high-quality initiatives that have strengthened the culture of coaching and professional development within the Ministry and across the State of Qatar.

She noted that participants attending the in-person activities held on 16 and 17 May received a total of 16 accredited Continuing Coach Education (CCE) hours provided by the International Coaching Federation, with eight hours awarded per day, in support of continuous professional development in line with international standards.

In addition, Pro Bono Coaching Sessions continued to be organised from 18 to 25 May in both Arabic and English, providing employees with the opportunity to benefit from professional coaching sessions designed to support personal and professional growth and development.

President of the ICF Doha Chapter, Dr. Maryam Mohammed Al Emadi stated that celebrating International Coaching Week goes beyond organising professional activities; it serves as a global message that highlights the importance of investing in people, strengthening their capabilities, and empowering them to grow and excel on personal, professional, and community levels.
