Bangladesh CC, Al Khor CC register close wins

Doha: Bangladesh Cricket Club and Al Khor Community Club pulled off pulsating three-run victories against their respective rivals in the Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament 2013.  Qatar Airways is the sponsor of the cricket tournament which is being organised by the Qatar Cricket Association at the West Bay Grounds. 

Batting first in the B Division match, Bangladesh CC posted a fighting 160 in 24 overs against United Challengers as Shamsu (40 runs) and Misbah (36 runs) played with responsibility and aggression.  Biplov bowled a brilliant spell to pick five wickets and played a big role in restricting United Challengers to 157 in 24 overs to clinch the match in a thrilling end. 

David (42) and Vikas (34) scored the highest runs for the losing side. Arman supported Biplov and grabbed three wickets.

Al Khor CC were involved in an even more roller-coaster match against Mannai Club. Batting first, Al Khor put together a big 201 in 25 overs. Adnan and Mohsin were the star performers for them. Adnan hammered 71, while Mohsin compiled 42. 

Mannai Club were in hot pursuit but fumbled at the end, losing the match by three runs. Indika, Aasif and Asif all blasted half-century each but failed to see off the Al Khor team’s challenge. Majeed and Huga both shared four wickets. 

Commercial Bank ‘B’ bowled and fielded well to defend their modest 156 runs against Shiver Kids Club and won the match by 15 runs.  Abdul Aziz did the star turn, picking four scalps. Qasim also bowled well to return two wickets. Christopher of the bank team was the highest scorer of the match with 36.

In other B Division matches, Iftikhar struck a superb 82 to lead Taj United to a big 74-run victory against Galfar Al Misnad Club, Punishers Club easily defeated More Club by three wickets and Kerala Eleven downed Q-Chem Club by four wickets.
