Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held a phone call today with the President of the United States of America HE Donald Trump.
During the call, the two leaders discussed the close strategic relations between the two countries and ways to support and further strengthen them.
They also reviewed the latest regional and international developments, particularly recent progress in diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.
In this context, HH the Amir and the US President reviewed the outcomes of consultations and understandings reached between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which resulted in progress on proposals being discussed within the framework of the ongoing negotiation process.
President Trump affirmed that the understandings reached had received the approval of all concerned parties, with the participation and support of a number of sisterly and friendly countries, including the State of Qatar.
He added that efforts are continuing to finalize the remaining procedures in preparation for the announcement of arrangements related to the signing of the agreement.
For his part, HH the Amir welcomed efforts aimed at resolving differences through dialogue and peaceful means, reaffirming Qatar’s support for all initiatives that contribute to strengthening regional and international security and stability and enhancing prospects for peace and cooperation among the countries of the region.
HH the Amir also expressed his appreciation to President Trump for his efforts in supporting the path of de-escalation and reducing tensions.
