Qatar has made huge strides in the field of health care. Health is one of the key aspects of human development, and progress in health care is an integral part of Qatar National Vision 2030.
This month, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is celebrating its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care to Qatar’s population since having been established by Amiri decree in 1979. “Under the direction of Qatar’s visionary leaders, we are proud to have delivered a wide range of health care services to millions of people throughout the past 40 years,” said H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health.
“I am truly proud of Hamad’s journey and its transformation, not only in terms of capacity but quality as well. Hamad is now a health care provider that ranks alongside the world’s best and it is the tens of thousands of dedicated staff who have worked at Hamad over the past 40 years who have driven this success,” she added. HMC has expanded its capacity with the opening of many new hospitals throughout the past four decades and today operates 12 hospitals across Qatar. Additionally, the number of patients being cared for by its clinical teams has grown at an exponential pace. Despite treating greater numbers of patients each year for the past four decades, HMC has worked hard to not only meet this increasing demand but to also advance the quality of care it delivers to patients in all areas of service. Recently, HMC’s Nesma’ak customer service center recently achieved Center of Excellence certification by BenchmarkPortal. The Center of Excellence designation is one of the most prestigious and coveted awards in the customer service and support industry.
The health sector in Qatar continues to provide its services with quality and efficiency. Keeping this in mind, Sidra Medicine will be hosting the 4th Qatar Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference (QPEM) 2020 next month and aims to provide a high-quality, evidence-based update for healthcare practitioners involved in the emergency and urgent care of children.
To be held from January 10-12, the event will be hosted by the Department of Emergency Medicine at Sidra Medicine and Hamad Medical Corporation. The conference is expected to welcome over 600 healthcare professionals from across the globe including physicians, nurses, paramedics and emergency medical technicians, allied health practitioners and pharmacists.
It is targeted towards professionals working in pediatric emergency medicine and other specialties involved in the emergency and urgent care for children. Holding the conference in Qatar and on a global level underscores the state’s interest in the health sector and demonstrates the magnitude of spending and investment in health care systems to build healthier societies.
The health care system in Qatar is implemented through a clear strategy, and aims to be one of the best health sectors in the region and in the world.
