Qatar Airways is spreading its wings. The national airline of the State of Qatar has received a host of accolades this year across a variety of categories, highlighting its outstanding onboard hospitality and passenger experience. The airline launched inaugural flights to Davao, Philippines and Lisbon, Portugal plus breaking records at the 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards and 2019 Passenger Experience Association’s (APEX) Passenger Choice Awards.

Qatar Airways took home a total of 11 Skytrax World Airline Awards, including ‘World’s Best Airline’ – becoming the only airline in the competition’s history to win it five times. The airline was also named ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’ for a third successive year, and ‘World’s Best Business Class’ for a fourth year in succession. Qatar Airways also set a new mark at the 2019 APEX Passenger Choice Awards, winning four out of six in the highly competitive Middle East category – an all-time record for a single airline in a region.  The Skytrax World Airline Awards are independent and impartial, introduced in 1999 to provide a customer satisfaction study that was truly global. Travellers across the world vote in the largest airline passenger satisfaction survey to decide the award winners.

Qatar Airways has become one of the world’s most highly-respected airlines, competing on a scale very few airlines achieve. Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 250 aircraft via its hub, Hamad International Airport  to more than 160 destinations worldwide.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said: “We are honoured to be globally recognised by our customers by winning these prestigious awards. Setting new records at two separate awards events is a landmark achievement and, is testament to the tireless efforts of the entire Qatar Airways team. It is a proud moment for the airline as our constant innovation and service standards set the benchmark in our industry.”

Qatar Airways is moving forward with the rapid expansion of global route network. Lisbon is the fourth new destination to be introduced by the airline this summer following the launch of flights to Izmir, Turkey, and Rabat, Morocco, in May; with Malta at the beginning of June and Davao, Philippines on June 18; followed by Mogadishu, Somalia, on July 1; and Langkawi, Malaysia, on October 15.

The airline received several accolades this year, including ‘World’s Top 10 Airline’, ‘World’s Best Business Class’, ‘Middle East Best Airline’, ‘Middle East Best Major’, ‘Middle East Best Business Class’, and ‘Middle East Best Economy Class’ by TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Airline Awards 2019. Qatar Airways has also been awarded with several PAX International Readership Awards 2019 including ‘Best Cabin Interior Passenger Experience’.

Qatar Airways aims to maintain its status as flying one of the youngest fleets in the sky and will continue to offer its passengers outstanding levels of comfort and style.
