Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s visit to the friendly Republic of Turkey has paved the way for taking bilateral relations to a sublime level, reiterating mutual support and respect. The Qatari-Turkish relations has become a model for strategic cooperation, which is expected to remain stronger considering the growing influential roles of the two countries in the regional and international level.
Qatari attitude towards Turkey, as H H the Amir affirmed, originates from Qatar’s duty by virtue of brotherhood and Qatar will never forget the support of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan personally to Qatar during the unjust siege since June 5, 2017.
The Turkish President paid glowing tributes to Qatar and H H the Amir acknowledging Qatar’s support to Turkey during the failed coup in June 2016 and the State’s support during the fierce campaign against Turkey recently.
The highest-level bilateral talks were followed by the meeting of Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee, which was co-chaired by H H the Amir and the Turkish President. These meetings resulted in strengthening relations between the two countries. Both the leaders are keen on pushing their cooperation forward to a wider perspective, especially after the formation of the Supreme Strategic Committee.
During the visit, H H the Amir and the Turkish President witnessed the signing of a number of agreements through which both the countries aim to take their strong relations to a supreme realm.
H H Amir, while acknowledging Turkey’s strong support during the blockade, affirmed that Qatar had proved to the world that it was right and that the accusations against it by the siege countries were false, and that Qataris are advocates of peace and do not want any problems with any country. H H the Amir reiterated Qatar’s support to Turkey saying that the country will rally behind Turkey in the hour of need in the future also.
The two countries, through their national strength and strong will, have supported each other and succeeded in overcoming the challenges they faced. The sincere and true friendly ties add meaning to the saying, a friend in need is a friend indeed. Qatar and Turkey has shown the world how excellent cooperation can be mutually beneficial whether in peacemaking or helping in the growth and development of countries and their people.
Qatar’s foreign policy has proved its tenacity and it is being widely accepted and acknowledged across the world. The crux of the policy is non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, respect other countries irrespective of being small or big and play an active role in fighting terrorism and tirelessly work to create a peaceful world.
