Qatar Airways yet again won the coveted Skytrax Airline of the Year award. The flag carrier also won the awards for the World’s Best Business Class, World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge, the World’s Best Business Class Seat, World's Best Business Class Onboard Catering and the Best Airline in the Middle East. It is a commendable fact that the airline is winning Skytrax Airline of the Year award for a record-breaking sixth time. The airline can be proud of being selected by its customers as the best airline in the world as the customer survey to determine the award was conducted over 23 months, from September 2019 to July 2021, perhaps the most crucial time that the air transport business had to pass through as the COVID-19 pandemic has been still raging across the globe stifling airline industry the most.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, H E Akbar Al Baker, said: “This award is the result of the incredible work by the Qatar Airways team and I want to thank our valued passengers for their loyalty and appreciation for all we have offered during the most challenging and uncertain times, without compromising on the service and excellence that the airline is renowned for throughout the world. We never abandoned our loyal customers when they needed us the most, we continued flying to get people home and implemented stringent bio-safety measures to provide strong reassurance for travellers, all while continuing to innovate to ensure we remain the airline of choice for millions of passengers across the globe.

Even though the pandemic has been stymieing the business, Qatar Airways has been keen on expanding  its network of destinations and improving its award-winning flying experience for millions of passengers, who find the airline as a reliable, convenient and affordable travel partner. In the last financial year alone, Qatar’s flag carrier added 14 aircraft to its fleet, which already include 205 passenger aircraft, 26 cargo aircraft and 19 Qatar Executive jets.

The airline has an order of over 200 aircraft worth over $50bn, according to its annual report. The sizable order numbers show the airline’s determination to strengthen its business, despite the challenging circumstances.

Qatar Airways may be the only airline in the world which never stopped flying throughout the COVID-19 period, but remained committed to its mission of taking people, especially thousands stranded in the far corners of the world, home during the peak of the pandemic crisis, proving itself to be the most reliable and trustworthy airline.

The world-class safety and hygiene measures it has implemented on its aircraft and at the Hamad International Airport, its hub, make it the preferred choice of millions of passengers from across the world.
