The State of Qatar has been reiterating its call for dialogue to resolve the Gulf crisis since the imposition of the unjust siege on the country for none of its faults. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, while addressing the 40th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, stressed that Qatar still believes in the need to reach a comprehensive solution to the Gulf crisis based on respect for the sovereignty of states, political independence and non-interference in their internal affairs.
At the same time H E the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs called on the Council and the international community to hold those responsible for the blockade which targets Qataris, residents and the Gulf citizens adding that the negative measures taken by the blockading countries violate the basic tenets of human rights, social fabric and the human relations. H E the Minister praised the mediation efforts exerted by the Amir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, expressing the hope that this noble endeavours would be successful.

The country is moving fast towards transformation into a nation capable of achieving sustainable development for generation after generation in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030.
In the recent past, Qatar has made great strides in the field of protection and promotion of human rights, especially ensuring the rights of the workforce in the country. Qatar has taken several steps aimed at the promotion of the rights of the expatriate workers, especially the permanent residency law and the amendment to the law regulating the entry and exit of expatriates, including the cancellation of exit permit system, and establishing an exclusive fund to support and secure labourers.
H E the Deputy Prime Minister told the Council: “The State of Qatar has maintained its advanced position in human development indicators at the international and regional levels and continued its efforts as an active international partner in efforts to achieve peace and stability and to provide development and humanitarian assistance.”
When it comes to the regional stability, whether it is in Yemen, Iraq, Libya or in the Palestinian territories, Qatar leaves no stones unturned. The state has been relentlessly raising the issue of these regional countries in whatever possible international forums and meetings of world leaders, drawing their attention to the plight of the people of these countries and calling for a just and lasting solution to the conflicts which will usher in a peaceful atmosphere in the region, which would be to the benefit of all the countries in the area.
