Amidst atmosphere of cohesion between the people of the two brotherly countries, Qatar and Kuwait, a series of Qatari activities in a run-up to Kuwait’s 58th National Day was launched at the Murooj Park in Kuwait on Thursday, February 21, 2019, concluding with National Day event celebrated yesterday.

The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, is organising six-day long events featuring six cultural, heritage and sports activities. The Qatari participation demonstrates the high importance and respect to relations with Kuwait and strong bonds between the citizens of two countries.

Qatar participation in this national festival is part of the broad brotherly ties which are aimed at enhancing the common heritage and traditional of the Gulf people.

The Qataris participation motto for this year celebration “Kuwait - Our Country Kuwait” was derived from an old Kuwaiti national operetta, in recognition to the leadership of Kuwait and its people, stressing that Qatar and Kuwait are one country, one people united by deep-rooted bonds. We celebrate Kuwait National Day like Qatar National Day.”

The State of Kuwait is also a homeland for Qataris, their unity is based on historical ties and the Qatari’s participation comes in the context of Kuwait’s national celebrations and is aimed at celebrating Kuwait’s National Day like National Day of Qatar. This is evident from high level of participation of Qataris in these events.

A number of similar events were organized under the theme “Qatar-Kuwait One Nation” in Souq Waqif and other places including Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) where hundreds of people attended the 1980s Show which reflects the golden age of most important cultural activities, through shows of clips of films and plays  produced in Kuwait in 1980s.

The Qatari celebrations reached its peak with the launch of ‘Sabah Al Ahmad’ Corridor project Sunday in Qatar. To mark Kuwait’s National Day and strengthen bonds of solidarity and brotherhood between the two countries and upon the directives of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar has named one of its important infrastructure project after the Kuwait Amir H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. The project was launched by Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, in the presence of H H Sheikh Nasser Al Mohamed Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Representative of the Kuwaiti Amir, at a ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel.

“The launch of the Corridor which has several multi-level interchanges, is a gesture to celebrate Kuwait’s 58th National Day and 28th liberation anniversary on February 25th and share the festivities with our brothers in Kuwait” stated Minister of Transport and Communications, H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti.
