The Ministry of Interior’s Police College has become a beacon of knowledge in the security field. This was evident when Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani patronised the graduation ceremony of the second batch of candidate students of the Police College at its headquarters in Al Sailiya.

The graduation ceremony witnessed the presence of delegations from several fraternal countries under the cooperation that links the Police College with its counterparts from colleges and academies at the regional and global levels. The candidates included 110 graduates, 89 of whom are Qatari from the Ministry of Interior and from a number of military entities in the country, and 21 from the sisterly Arab countries, including the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Palestine and the Republic of Yemen.

The graduates joined the college in the academic year 2015-2016, where they spent four years to obtain a bachelor’s degree in law and police science. They received advanced specialised courses such as thunderbolt, skydiving, and diving, as well as summer training in the departments of the Ministry of Interior, English courses at a British university, and a special programme related to qualifying security personnel for the 2022 World Cup.

Director-General of the Police College, Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Muhana, stressed that the blessing of security and safety that the country enjoys is nothing but the fruits of a wise leadership’s vision that put human dignity, happiness and security at the top of its priorities and goals, quoting H H the Amir as saying that humans are the most important aspect of building a nation and a country’s biggest investment, and that Qatar has invested in its youth and with them it will develop further. He said the College seeks to confirm this through achieving quality in education and training by graduating a modern police officer with a high degree of efficiency and professionalism.

The Police College is moving forward with developing its academic, training and research programmes, based on an ambitious vision to transform into a police academy by 2023. The College seeks to transform into a comprehensive academy, which includes a college for postgraduate studies, and institutes for training, education and scientific research.

The Ministry of Interior has spared no effort in developing security operations and building up capabilities and the Police College was an important component of developing human capital in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
