This region which is facing multiple challenges and going through numerous crises will ultimately have to diffuse them with sincere, coordinated efforts. The efforts in which all regional states will have to come forward to share collective responsibility and launch joint efforts to end flames of war and political conflicts.
Qatar with its clear and constructive vision has been asking the same time and reiterated its stance when Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani emphasized on the need of developing regional security partnership in his speech delivered at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament the other day.
To resolve various political disputes in the region and world, Qatar always played proactive role and brought the warring parties to the negotiations table to end conflicts like Sudan dispute where Qatar through Darfur agreement permanently got an obstinate conflict resolved few years ago.
In his latest speech, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani reiterated Qatar’s foreign policy stance saying that differences must be resolved through dialogue, not by blockade, calling for a regional security partnership between all countries in the Middle East.
“Our region cannot bear more crises, and we have enough problems on the table and that there are many negative effects on stability in this region,” he said.
The minister stressed the need to establish a regional security partnership between all countries of the Middle East, adding, “If you look carefully at the crises in the Middle East, you will find that the same countries are involved in these crises, and we want them to come to the dialogue table to adopt the principle of collective security and contribute to pushing it forward.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also said that there is an important role for the European Union in this context. “Everything that happens in this region affects it, whether in the form of refugee flows or the spread of transnational terrorism, welcoming in this regard the efforts of European countries to support the establishment of a dialogue on regional security, which Qatar believes in and tries to strength it.”
It is an open fact that some regional countries are on the path of adventurism and have destabilized the region just for their hunger for more power. These aggressive foreign policy designs of these countries are pushing the whole Middle East to the brink of disaster. Now is the time that saner elements should come forward and use the table of talks as an only option to end political conflicts of the region like Yemen war.
