The state of Qatar enjoys friendly bilateral ties with all the countries in the world, and most of these diplomatic relations were established following its independence from the United Kingdom in 1971. Bilateral relations of Qatar are strong with most of Arab and other countries and it is working closely, with these countries, on a wide range of regional and global issues to achieve progress, stability and prosperity in the region.
The visit of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to three Arab states, namely the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Tunisia and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, which is starting from today, comes within the framework of boosting bilateral relations. The relations and cooperation with these countries have already reached high point of coordination and cooperation at political, economic, commercial, cultural and social levels.
The bilateral relations between Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan have been historically known as distinguished brotherly relations, combined with mutual respect and common concern developed and upgraded under auspices of the leadership of the two countries. Over the past years, Qatar and Jordan have witnessed an increase in mutual official visits by the ministers and senior officials for signing a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding that promote strong bilateral relations between the two countries.
H H the Amir’s tour comes as Qatar’s relations with those countries have reached high level of coordination and cooperation, thanks to the support provided by H H the Amir and the leaders of those brotherly Arab countries.
Relations with Tunisia have grown stronger over the past years and Qatar has become the country with the second largest foreign direct investment in Tunisia. Noteworthy is generous Qatar’s support to the Tunisian economy under the direct sponsor of H H the Amir, who attended Tunisia’s investment conference, held on November 29 and 30, 2016 and during his opening speech, he announced a financial package of $1.25bn.
The State of Qatar also enjoys a long-standing and distinguished relationship with Algeria. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both the countries have often found themselves placed on the same side on major issues such as Palestine and both are closely coordinating on regional and global issues.
The visit will contribute to supporting and promoting the relations and open new horizons of cooperation between these countries which will serve joint interests, Arab issues and aspirations.
