Since its establishment, the university has become Qatar’s premier higher education institution, providing quality education apart from being the fastest growing research center in the region.

QU has been the heartbeat of the Qatari society in the process of making change, ensuring progress and bringing prosperity. As a top educational institution it has contributed to the national development by providing the country with its needs for qualified cadres, who hold senior positions at state level, scientists, consultants and researchers from all disciplines.

Therefore, it has been interacting with the community and throughout the years continued expanding its colleges, departments and academic programs in line with the growing needs of the market and the aspirations of the society it serves ensuring they meet the needs of achieving Qatar’s national vision.

In order to ensure that its programs and disciplines are aligned with nation’s needs and development requirements and keep a pace with current and future developments, recently, the university has shifted from the development phase to the transformational phase.

This was clearly reflected in its new five-year strategy (2018-2022), a move based on a clear vision that reflects the orientations of the wise leadership of the State of Qatar and the Board of Trustees of the university.

Accordingly it has developed seven core strategies which are Teaching and Learning Strategy, Student Experience Strategy, Research and Knowledge Advancement Strategy, Institutional Excellence Strategy, Engagement Strategy, Digital Transformation Strategy and Entrepreneurship and Innovation Strategy.

These strategies have resulted in 34 objectives, causing 122 strategic initiatives undertaken by the university to be implemented throughout 2022, according to statement issued on the occasion of graduation of the 41 batch recently.

On the level of international ranking, the university climbed 17 positions in the QS Universities ranking from the previous ranking to reach the 332 position globally and seventh position among Arab universities and seventh position among Arab universities.

It has also ranked 35th in the ranking of Times Higher Education (THE), along accreditation of a number of its colleges and programs by international accreditation institutions, covering a large proportion of the programs and disciplines at the university.

QU is committed to providing quality education in nearly 84 undergraduate and postgraduate programs as a national university, distinct from the rest of the educational institutions and has a leading role in delivering quality education, and strengthening its position as a community partner for national development.

The university aims to provide academic programs and research projects based on national and international standards to meet the needs of achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
