The recently released data shows the success of Qatarization program according to plans of Qatar National Vision 2030. The data of the Ministry of Labour and Civil Service and Government Development Bureau indicates that 7,182 Qataris employed in government and private sectors in 2023.
The growing number of appointments of citizens in the private sector reflects the constant efforts made by the Ministry of Labour in coordination with the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau (CSGDB) to provide quality job opportunities to citizens and prepare a suitable work environment for them.
The report also outlines that most jobs were secured by Qatari women, making up 61% of new hires, with 4,408 entering employment in both the government and private sectors. This highlights Qatar’s commitment to support and expand women’s role in the country’s development.
The Qatarization target is a function of quality and competent Qataris holding permanent established positions that are in key positions; in sensitive positions and tied to company business plans.
To support these objectives, Qatarization programme has established strong partnerships with the education sector and the local communities to ensure the effectiveness of its efforts. The programme has also designed its development processes to verify efficiencies and rewarding the youth, while at the same time, dedicating unlimited resources to ensure continuous support throughout their careers.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance announced an increase of QR1.5bn in salary and wage allocations for 2024, representing a 2.4% increase from last year. This strategic investment, driven by the Ministry of Labour and Civil Service and Government Development Bureau’s initiatives, is projected to boost employment statistics, as well as provide more opportunities for Qataris in both sectors, further driving development.
Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Samikh Al Marri has said the 2023 figures reflectQatar’s investment in developing human capital and providing the labour market with skilled local talent, able to work in various fields.
The Ministry’s efforts are ongoing to create opportunities for all citizens, which focuses on channelling quality investments into government and private sectors to create training and job opportunities for Qataris– a central goal of the Qatar National Vision 2030’s human development pillar.
The Ministry of Labour is also constantly upgrading the National Employment Platform (Kawader), emplying artificial intelligence to improve the user experience. The efforts to provide job opportunities for citizens in Qatar are among the main goals of the human development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The vision ensures availability of investments for the public and private sectors and the creation of training and employment opportunities for all citizens in Qatar to achieve their aspirations, in addition to providing programmes that keep pace with the labour market.
