It is a fact which is widely admitted across the world that like Qatar’s leadership its media played very positive role in the face of unjust blockade imposed against the country last year. Qatari media not only defended Qatar by proving false allegations leveled against Qatar by the siege countries wrong but also avoided indulging in nefarious propaganda wars launched by the neighbouring countries.

The role of Qatari media in promoting national cause has been very important. Qatari media has proved itself the first wall of defence of Qatar and through factual reporting has defeated rumour mongers and propagandists of the siege countries. At the same time, Qatari media never shun principles of morality and ethical journalism.

No Qatari media outlet either private or state-run resorted to unethical reporting or creation of false, fabricated stories to respond to siege countries’ media allegations.

Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani during his recent visit to Qatar Media Corporation stressed on the important role media and media personalities in the State of Qatar play in facing the changes and challenges transparently, honestly, and ethically.

He also expressed appreciation to the efforts of the people in charge of Qatar Media Corporation, calling on everyone to continue doing their best to serve the country.

“Today I visited @qmc_qa and was briefed on its projects and future plans. We value the role of Qatari media in facing all challenges while preserving national values and principles. The media in #Qatar acts responsibly and is respected for its professionalism and objectivity,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

The Prime Minister’s visit included Qatar TV, Channel 37, Qatar Radio as well as the foreign channels.

No doubt, Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) has made tremendous efforts in exposing the blockade imposed by the neighboring countries on Qatar.

Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, CEO of Qatar Media Corporation since June last year attended many local and international seminars held on unjust blockade on Qatar where he defended Qatar’s narrative with the power of undeniable facts and arguments.

Since June 5 last year after imposition of unjust siege, the State of Qatar and Qatari media have committed themselves to the principles of ethics and credibility and always refrained from attacking opponents. The media of siege countries used all they could including producing offensive songs and attacking people but in response to all such provocations, Qatari media and journalists did not compromise on golden principles of responsible and ethical journalism.
