Israel’s systematic escalation policy

Since the election of a far-right Israeli governing coalition whose prominent members openly call for ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, various parts of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem have been subjected to daily attacks, incursions and desecration of holy places.

This government has been described as the worst in the region’s history due to its extremist views and ideology.
With the reelection of Netanyahu and his hardline religious and far-right political partners, the occupied Palestinian territories have witnessed unprecedented expansion of illegal Israeli settlements.

Israel has stepped up military raids, primarily in the north of the occupied West Bank, for more than 18 months in what it calls a campaign to root out Palestinian resistance fighters and thwart future attacks.

The fundamental rights of Palestinian prisoners under the extremist government are being abused.

The surge in violence and deliberate escalation of the Israeli government are systematic. Palestinians are targeted daily at certain places, and the occupation forces have launched several campaigns to arrest and raid Palestinians with live ammunition, rubber bullets and gas bombs.

Yesterday’s sad events in Tulkarm were another glaring example of the violations Palestinians are regularly exposed to. Israeli special forces, supported by the occupation army, stormed Tulkarm camp and deployed snipers among the alleys. In response to the mounting violence and regular attacks, violent confrontations broke out between the Palestinians and occupation soldiers who fired live bullets, stun grenades, and poisonous gas.

Two Palestinians were martyred after they were hit by Israeli gunfire south of the city, and the occupation forces prevented ambulances from reaching the casualties. More than 200 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the start of this year, according to the health ministry.

Along these lines, the Israeli occupation police obstructed the entry of worshipers into Al-Aqsa in the early hours while they tightened their military procedures at the gates and prevented Palestinians from entering the mosque.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State of Qatar condemned these violations.
Occupation forces are imposing severe restrictions on the entry of worshipers into the mosques and churches, undermining requests made by churches in Jerusalem and Haifa for protection from the extremist groups’ attacks.

The ministry stressed that Israel is solely responsible for the cycle of violence that will result from this systematic escalation policy against the Palestinian people, their lands, and their holy sites, urging the international community to take urgent action to stop these assaults and oblige Israel to provide the necessary protection to these holy sites and respect International legitimacy resolutions.
