Ooredoo Group has positioned itself as the leading operator for innovative digital solutions across the globe. This was evident when Ooredoo, one of the world’s leading telecommunications operators, was recognised and honoured with a raft of awards at the 2019 Stevie International Business Awards.

The Stevie Awards are held annually to recognise and honour the achievements and positive contributions of organisations worldwide.  Ooredoo won 14 awards, including the prestigious Company of the Year award in the Telecommunications - Large category. Ooredoo was also awarded a Grand Stevie award for being among the top 10 winners across all other organisations honoured in the 2019 International Business Awards. As well as the Company of the Year award, Ooredoo won another five gold awards.

Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani, Group Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo, said: “We are immensely proud to receive this prestigious international recognition of our efforts, and particularly proud that this year, we received a record number of gold awards including perhaps one of the most significant awards of the programme — Company of the Year. The diversity of the awards received acknowledges the scope of our business within the telecommunications industry, and the prestige reflects industry respect for our phenomenal progress in enhancing the digital lives of our customers across the globe. We remain committed to being at the forefront of technological advancements, including our pioneering 5G network, and to pressing forward with our corporate strategy of complete digitalisation to shape the future of telecommunications.”

At the Qatar IT Conference and Exhibition (QITCOM 2019), Ooredoo  showcased the latest ICT services to enable “Safe Smart Cities”. Aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Ministry of Transport and Communications’ TASMU Smart Program, Ooredoo showcased the latest business and consumer technology Internet of Things (IoT) innovations that can transform key Smart City industry verticals such as sports, healthcare, transport, logistics, environment, and cybersecurity. Ooredoo also showcased a fully automated Smart Home using cutting-edge technology.

Ooredoo Group leads in 5G adoption with live commercial 5G networks in Qatar and Kuwait and successful 5G testing in Oman.

Network expansion continued to be a key driver of growth. Ooredoo Tunisia continued its 4G rollout with many new B2B clients connected. Ooredoo Myanmar deployed more LTE1800 sites to reinforce existing nationwide coverage. In Algeria, 4G network expansion continued with 64 percent of the population covered.

Innovation helped Ooredoo to enhance customer experience in the home entertainment and retail fields. The launch of the new Ooredoo ONE ‘All-In-One’ Home Service supported the expansion of the customer base for triple play (entertainment, broadband and landline) services. In addition, Ooredoo Qatar premiered a world first with the launch of ‘Virtual Store,’ an online 360-degree retail experience that enabled visitors to browse and buy devices and products in a virtual environment.  When it comes to innovation and providing quality services, Ooredoo has become role model for others to follow.
