Silk Road is one of the oldest commercial land route networks with length of 12,000 kms, linking Asia with the Middle East and Europe for hundreds of years. This commercial network played key role in cultural interaction and political relations between the States due to its great influential role in the prosperity of many nations taking part in trade exchange.
China as one of the countries played key role in Silk Road network through centuries took the initiative of reviving this historical and trans border commercial network when its President announced in September 2013 during his visit to Kazakhstan the plan to establish a new Silk Road linking China to Europe known as the “One Belt, One Road,” which reaches 60 countries with projected investments of between $ 4 and $8 trillion.
The project aims at promoting trade between East and central Asia with Middle East and, Europe, and Africa. Of course, the revival of the ancient trade Silk Road will also revive and enhance global peace and cultural exchanges; create chances for nations to achieve prosperity and improve living conditions of people in many parts of the world.
The Silk Road Exhibition and Conference is an event to highlight the path of the new road and the countries through which it deals. It will be an international forum that brings together investors, implementers and decision-makers under one roof. Through this exhibition, participants can learn about the products and exports of the route countries, and businessmen can meet with their counterparts and seize business opportunities for their companies and institutions.
Qatar strongly believes that its huge investments in shipping and sea, air and land transports represent great opportunities for investors and Qatari market when the country takes part in implementation of this initiative along many other countries.
Therefore Qatar is organizing a three-day Exhibition and Conference kicking off today at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center under the patronage of Minister of Transport and Communications, H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti.
The exhibition aims to enables participating countries to learn about trade and industrial potentials, logistics, exchange of experiences and investments. It also aims at presenting the state-of-the-art technologies of all types which are part of shipping services, transport and port management in the participating countries.
Several local and international firms from public and private sectors are participating in the exhibition, which is sponsored by Mwani Qatar, the Main Sponsor; Qatar Airways, as Official Carrier & Gold Sponsor; Milaha and Qatar Rail as Gold Sponsor; and General Authority of Customs along with Qterminals taking part in the Exhibition as Silver Sponsors.
