People across the world have been welcoming the New Year with a variety of celebrations. Everybody hopes that the year 2019 brings more peace, prosperity and happiness to a world, especially the Middle East region, troubled by wars, sectarianism, hunger and calamities.

The New Year begins with great ambitions and hopes for more strength and continuation of development and a comprehensive renaissance for Qatar. The country marched into 2019 holding its head high and its flag fluttering aloft as it was coming out of a full year and a half of unjust blockade imposed with the intention of destroying the country by its neighbours, the so-called Arab quartet. Nobody should have any doubt that the past year will remain a testament to the Qatari steadfastness in the face of the consequences of the siege.

The blockade did not deter Qatar from achieving records in the fields of development, construction and great jumps in the field of education etc in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Under the wise leadership and guidance of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the government, Qatar begins a new era of prosperity, achievements, welfare, diversification of investment and business, a qualitative jump in the knowledge economy and self sufficiency in food products.

Last year, Qatar was successful in establishing strategic partnerships with Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy and there will definitely be more such diplomatic breakthroughs in this year too.

Qatar’s diplomacy has resulted in great achievements in every continent, expanding partnerships with emerging economies in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. H H the Amir’s visit to several countries last year has had a great impact on Qatar’s international standing. The country has always held the Arab region and Islam its first and foremost interests and it was evident from its support to the Palestinian cause and efforts to bring back a peaceful life to the areas reeling under conflicts.

The country has made copious success in its economic diversification and foreign invest in sectors such as energy, tourism, hospitality, sports, international conventions and meetings.

State of Qatar will continue its steady stride in the field of education and preparing the Qatari people for the future, investing more in the human element according to its great vision, in order to create a generation capable of carrying on the torch of development, prosperity and management with confidence.
