Outstanding achievement

Qatar University, a beacon of academic excellence and scientific research, has achieved yet another stellar feat with the graduation of 3,188 students. On Sunday, Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani patronised the graduation ceremony of the 43rd batch (Class of 2020) of Qatar University students and honoured the 109 outstanding graduates out of the 733 graduate students in various disciplines. 

And yesterday, H H Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, the consort of H H the Amir, honoured 374 outstanding female graduates out of 2,455 graduates in various disciplines. The annual convocation includes graduates from a full academic year comprising Fall 2019, Winter 2020, Spring 2020, and Summer 2020.

Since its establishment in 1977, Qatar University has been working to provide distinguished education. QU contributes heavily to Qatar’s development and prosperity by boosting the labour market with qualified graduates. At the heart of Qatar University’s mission and vision is community engagement. QU is committed to providing high-quality education in areas of national priority, moving towards building a knowledge-based society in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Qatar University President Dr. Hassan Al Derham, in his speech on Sunday, said: “As we celebrate the graduation of our 43rd class, our treasured nation is witnessing a renaissance that would not have been possible without the concerted efforts of the people of this country. Our goal is to maintain the university’s core functions and roles in teaching, research, and serving the community.” Qatar University is represented by 25,000 students, 1,700 faculty members and offers 96 academic programs.

Qatar University focuses on excellence and the highest standards of quality and professionalism and is committed to integrity and the highest standards of honesty, justice, transparency, responsibility and accountability. QU’s new strategy places an emphasis on elevating the student experience by placing QU as a pioneer and a leading educational institution in the higher education sector in Qatar and abroad. 

Qatar University continued to make waves in various international rankings. Just last month the University was placed 26 in the overall THE Emerging Economies University Rankings for 2021 and was recognised by QS Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings in 13 different subjects.

The University, over the past years, has strengthened its research facilities as part of its endeavours to promote scientific research, establishing a research complex that includes 16 research centers of excellence, working on more than 400 collaborative research projects in more than 130 countries.
