New Covid-19 cases see slight rise on Dec 31

Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today recorded 213 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 122 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 141,422.

Out of the 213 new cases, 166 are community cases and 47 from travellers returning from abroad. All new cases have been placed in isolation and are receiving necessary health care according to their health status.

Till now 245 people have died due to the virus.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 143,834 and there are 2,167 active cases under treatment.

5,213 people were tested for the first time in the last 24 hours (10,875 tests in total) taking the total tests done so far to 1,241,406 tests.

There 35 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total number of patients in the hospital to 259.

Three people were admitted in the ICU taking the total number of people receiving treatment in ICU to 28.

While the first phase of Covid-19 vaccinations has started in Qatar and in the coming months it will be available for the public for free, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:

- Adherence to physical distancing

- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate

- Wearing a face mask

- Washing hands regularly
