The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has announced the launch of a new e-service for employee secondment requests.
According to a statement from the MoL, the service is part of the ministry's digital transformation strategy to expedite procedures and the completion of transactions.
With the new service, requesting for full secondment or part-time work outside working hours as well as the renewal of such requests can now be done electronically.
The new service also allows the submission of requests for the secondment of workers to another company or organisation without the need to change the current employer.
Following the approval of the application, employees can work full-time or part-time in the new company.
The service is subject to the current employer's approval, and the company to which the worker is seconded must also be fully registered and duly approved in line with the provisions of Labour Law No. 14 of 2004, the ministry noted.
Besides, there must not be any violation of the provisions of the Labour Law by the establishment submitting the application.
The secondment period should also not exceed a maximum of six months, and it must not exceed the expiry date of the employee's residence permit.
