Cabinet approves formation of price and profit committee, use of CCTV cameras

Doha: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting yesterday. After the meeting, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Sulaiti stated that the council considered several topics on the agenda.

These topics included approval of a draft Cabinet decision specifying some facilities under the provisions of Law No. 9 of 2011 regulating the use of security and surveillance CCTV cameras and devices will apply. 

Secondly, approval of a draft decision of the Minister of Commerce and Industry to form a committee to set the maximum prices and profit rates. The preparation of the draft decision comes to replace Decision No. 169 of 2011 to form a committee to set the maximum prices and profit rates. 

The draft stipulated that the committee would be formed under the chairmanship of the Assistant Undersecretary for Consumer Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the membership of representatives from several authorities. 

It would be responsible for determining the basic goods and services to be set the maximum price and the percentage of profits, studying the market to find out the prices of goods and services traded in it, companies’ requests and consumer complaints related to changing the prices of goods and services or the profit rates set for them, setting the maximum limits for the prices of some goods and services and the wages of some businesses and their fair profit rates.

Also, take the necessary measures to ratify an agreement between the United Nations, represented by the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, and Qatar regarding the establishment of the Analysis and Communication Centre of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict in the country. 

The Cabinet also reviewed the results of the 36th session of the Regional Conference for the Near East and North Africa, and took the appropriate decisions.
