Doha: Qatari rider Khalid Mohammed Al Emadi captured the top honours on the final day of the fifth round of the Hathab Equestrian Tour yesterday with an impressive ride on Fiji.

The 24-year-old rider  who completed his round in 62.61 secs astride his reliable bay gelding at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s (QEF) Outdoor Arena, got richer by QR10,150 with yesterday’s win.

Popular rider Saeed Nasser Al Qadi finished with a time of 64.93 on Daydreamer EC to seal the second place on the podium. It also earned him a prize cheque worth QR8,050. Vivaldi K, with Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi in the saddle, booked the remaining spot on the podium with a ride that lasted for 71.61 secs.

Al Rumaihi won a prize cheque worth QR6,300. However, yesterday’s result means Al Qadi will overtake Al Rumaihi in the overall standings of the Big Tour after the completion of the fifth round.

Earlier, in the Open Class, Jaber Rashid Al Amri guided Jousts in three flawless routines to seal the top prize of QR3,750. There was an intense battle for the second place, and the same contest saw two riders, Saeed Nasser Al Qadi (Desperadito) and Salman Mohammed Al Emadi (Best Of Des Forets) sharing the spot.

Both riders made four errors each in the third round yesterday and each of them won QR2,625 in prize money.
