Winter season begins in December: Qatar Met

Doha, Qatar: Winter season begins in Qatar in December, a month characterised by the passing of frontal systems passing from Europe, stated Qatar Meteorology Department in its monthly climate information update.

According to the QMD, the average mean temperature expected for this month is 19.8°C. The lowest ever recorded temperature was 6.4°C during the winter of 1963, and the highest recorded temperature was 32.7°C during 2010.

Qatar Met stated that it is noticed that weather is usually unstable before the air front crossing during December, to be followed by fresh to strong Northwesterly winds.

The climate information update added that December is also considered the season of the Shamal Winds.
