Doha: Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros. Co. (AAB), the distributor of Toyota and Lexus in Qatar, reinforces best practices in pursuit of Zero Waste by signing a recycling initiative agreement with Seashore Recycling & Sustainability Center (SRSC) recently.

AAB Chief Executive Officer R.K. Murugan and SRSC Vice-Chairman Saqr Saeed Al Mohannadi signed the agreement reflecting both parties’ commitment towards the Sustainability and Green Initiatives in lieu of Qatar 2030 Vision. SRSC has the capacity to do all types of recycling to lessen the greenhouse effect caused by manufacturing new products in the State of Qatar.

Climate change is a huge economic and global issue. Wastes such as metals, plastic, and other recyclable materials that are dumped into landfills release methane gas which has a drastic effect on global warming. Methane is one of the most potent greenhouse gases and is a huge contributor to climate change. To reduce the amount of waste brought to landfills, SRSC has built its recycling facilities. Recycled products yield approximately 78 percent lesser energy consumption compared to manufacturing new products.

With AAB’s recycling initiative, segregation of waste materials according to plastic, paper and cans will be observed at the Al Abdulghani Tower. Accumulated segregated materials will then be collected by SRSC for recycling on a weekly basis. This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) for Responsible Consumption and Production. In addition, AAB has active internal sustainable practices in place in respect of upcycling excess materials through practices adopted by its Business Units and community initiatives.

AAB is fully committed to giving back to the community through its CSR initiatives with one of its major pillars focused on caring for the Environment. This commitment is reflected on its support to programmes geared towards a Green Qatar. Its collaboration with SRSC reinforces and manifests AAB’s commitment and active role in contributing towards the fulfillment of QNV 2030.
