Rabat: Qatar Electricity And Water Co. (QEWC) won the best Arab company in the energy sector for 2017, as well as the best Arab management team in the energy sector, in the second edition of the Arab Best Awards ceremony, which was held in Marrakesh, Morocco.
Commenting on the occasion, QEWC Public Relations and Shareholders Affairs Manager Rashid bin Nasser Al Hajri, who received the two awards during the ceremony, said that the award was in recognition of the company’s professional performance in the field of electricity production and water desalination.
He noted that the “Arab Best Awards” are one of the most important and valuable awards in the region, pointing out that the award recognizes exceptional organizations and professionals in the Arab world in three core areas: business excellence; government, leadership and sports; and social and community contribution. He noted that Award categories are highly competitive and the winners are selected based on a merit system that includes 17 criteria such as leadership style; alignment to strategic business goals; administrative productivity, among others.
Al Hajri pointed out that the General Manager of the Company and Managing Director Fahd Hamad Al Muhannadi, won the “best Arab administrative team leader” award, which reflects the level attained by the QEWC. The company has achieved many achievements in previous years through the implementation of several vital and entrepreneurial projects that have economic importance to upgrade the production of electric power and water desalination to advanced levels, through the QEWC’s commitment and responsiveness to its responsibilities efficiently, professionally and highly depending on its own ability and qualified cadres, which contributes to enhancing QEWC achievements and to achieve high-end aspirations to achieve its objectives according to the plans.
QEWC public relations and shareholders affairs manager stressed that these awards strengthen the position of the QEWC as a leader in the field of electricity production and desalination, and encourages to further achievements and continue to seek solutions to the challenges faced by the energy sector. The Arab Best Award aims at honoring innovative institutions and individuals in various fields to encourage achievement and innovation at the Arab level, as well as encouraging initiatives that contribute to the development of Arab labour institutions and motivate young people to innovate in different fields of knowledge by stimulating competitiveness and challenge spirit.
