DOHA: As part of its ongoing regulatory efforts, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), represented by the Department of Wildlife Development, has launched an extensive inspection campaign targeting several quarries across the country.
The campaign was carried out in coordination with the Environmental Security Group (Lekhwiya), with the aim of detecting environmental violations and enforcing appropriate measures against violators.
The inspections sought to ensure that quarry operations are adhering to approved environmental standards and requirements. These efforts are intended to minimise the negative impact of certain practices that pose a threat to Qatar’s wildlife, natural resources, and ecological balance.
The MECC emphasised that such campaigns are part of a broader commitment to sustainable environmental management and preserving the country’s biodiversity. Authorities reaffirmed their dedication to monitoring activities that could disrupt the natural environment and vowed to continue working closely with all relevant agencies to safeguard the environment for future generations.
