Qatar players and officials celebrate after winning a match during the IHF Beach Handball World Championships in Greece.
Doha: The Qatari beach handball team will start training today to prepare for the 11th edition of the World Games, which will be held in the American city of Birmingham from 7 to 17 July.
The Qatari team will compete in the first group, along with Denmark, New Zealand and Croatia. The second group includes Brazil, the United States of America, Argentina and Puerto Rico.
It will be third appearance for Qatar at the World Games after the 2013 edition and 2017 editions. Qatar finished fifth in the 10th World Championships in Greece last week.
It is noteworthy that the Qatari beach handball team has achieved many achievements in the past years, the most prominent of which was getting third place twice in the 2014 World Championships in Brazil and 2016 in Hungary, and winning the Asian Championship five times in a row in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2017 and 2019.
Qatar also won three consecutive gold medals at the Asian Beach Games.
