Doha: Egypt yesterday defeated Qatar 26-23 in the first handball friendly match at the Al Duhail Sports Hall.
It was a thrilling battle between the two sides with Egypt leading 13-12 in the first half. The second and final friendly match between the two teams will be played tomorrow.
Asian champions Qatar are playing the matches as part of their preparations for the Asian Handball Championship to be held in Saudi Arabia from January 18 to 31, 2022.
After matches against Egypt, Qatar will meet Iraq for two games on January 4 and January 6.
Qatar have been highly successful at the Asian Championships, claiming four consecutive titles in the 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020 editions.
