Qatar Chamber has signed two MoUs for enhancing cooperation with Mozambique Chamber of Commerce and ASEAN Chamber of Commerce yesterday.
During separate meetings, the Qatar Chamber has examined trade and economic relations and ways of promoting partnerships between Qatari businessmen and their counterparts from Malaysia and Mozambique.
QC Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli has received a Malaysian trade delegation from ASEAN Chamber led by Mohamed Izat Emir representing various sectors such as tourism, beverages, recycling and shipping.
Al Obaidli and Mohamed Izat Emir signed the MoU with a view to promoting joint action, coordination in hosting meetings and events, and the exchange of information necessary to serve the business sector in Qatar and Malaysia.
Al Obaidli stressed that Qatar and Malaysia economic relations have been developed thanks to efforts exerted by leadership of both countries, noting that visits exchange helped in cementing cooperation between them in economic and trading spheres.
He also said that Malaysia is an important trade partner to Qatar, pointing to their trade volume that grew from $ 320m in 2007 to $ 968m last year.
There are more than 40 Malaysian companies operating in Qatar, he said, affirming that Qatari businessmen see Malaysia as a distinguished destination for investment in tourism, hospitality, financial sector, industry and real estate.
On his turn, head of Malaysian delegation said that signing this MOU between both chambers aim to benefit businessmen from both countries and creating a platform for developing and improving cooperation relations for the good of both economies.
Meanwhile, Al Obaidli and President of Mozambique Chamber Juliao Dimande signed MoU in the presence of Assistant Director General for Government Relations and Committees Affairs Ali Bu Sherbak Al Mansouri.
Commenting on the signing ceremony, Al Obaidli said that Qatar Chamber encourages Qatari businessmen and investors to explore investment opportunities in Africa, including Mozambique, which is replete with many investment opportunities in different sectors.
President of Mozambique Chamber Juliao Dimande said that signing MOU with Qatar Chamber would contribute to developing cooperation between businessmen from both countries, as well as stimulating Qatari investors to invest in his country.
He stressed his country’s eagerness to bolster cooperation with Qatar at all fields and building economic robust relations.
