Doha: The Organising Committee of the 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Doha 2018 was always keen to deliver a distinctive first of its kind event in the Middle East and the on-going tournament is a reflection of that according to Mohammed Abdullah Al Meer (pictured), vice chairman of the finance committee.

“The organisational success of the World Cup since the start of the championships reflects the keenness to produce this edition in a distinctive way, especially as it is one of the largest tournaments in the world,” said Al Meer.

“Everyone from the Organising Committee is striving for success and to ensure a flawless and top-class first such event in Qatar,” he said.

“We are also pleased that the organisation has been appreciated by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and the gymnasts and officials.

“The success of Doha Worlds is also continuing on the financial side. The Organising Committee has succeeded in developing a strategy for this current version, which is one of the most common versions in terms of number of teams and players. This was a challenge at all levels, especially finance.”

“The Organising Committee has also sought to diversify the income from the championship. We thank all government agencies and sponsors for the support provided, and we wish to continue for further success of the championship in a manner that suits the reputation of sport in the country and confirms the international status of Qatar,” he added.
