The delegation from the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations during a visit to the Museum of Islamic Art.
Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Jaber Al Huwail, met today with a delegation from the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC).
The meeting discussed ways to enhance prospects for joint cooperation and matters of common concern. The members of the delegation were briefed on the NHRC functions and its role in the promotion and protection of human rights. Al Huwail touched on the repercussions of the unjust siege imposed on the State of Qatar and its impact on the human rights situation.
The delegation visited yesterday the Museum of Islamic Art. The delegation was briefed about the historical and cultural significance of the museum, as well as the precious artifacts and the magnificent building designed by the famous architect I M Pei The delegation noted the unique harmony between the wood and stone items and objects used in the museum, which forms the basis of Qatar’s thriving cultural landscape.
