Highlighting Qatar’s commitment to the highest international standards of the resolution of civil and commercial disputes, a delegation from the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) took part in the Annual Conference of the International Bar Association Seoul (IBA 2019) held from 22 to 27 September 2019.
The Conference’s opening remarks were made by a line-up of eminent figures, including the President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in; eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon; the Mayor of Seoul, Park Won-soon; and President of the IBA, Horacio Bernardes Neto.
5000 renowned experts and professionals from the global legal community gathered at this year’s edition in Seoul, South Korea. For the third consecutive year, QICDRC participated as Gold sponsor, effectively reaffirming its focus on international engagement and cooperation.
The QICDRC also hosted a successful seminar on the side-lines of the event titled ‘The Rise of the Commercial Courts in Asia and the Middle East’, featuring panellists from various jurisdictions, including Qatar, Singapore and Kazakhstan. The discussions focused on how international commercial courts have developed a unique legal model by adopting best practices in dispute resolution. QICDRC’s strategic position as a meeting point between East and West as well as its active role in the Conference circuit was also highlighted during the seminar.
