The Embassy of India in Qatar organised four consular camps at Salwa, Mesaieed, Al Khor and Dukhan-Zikreet areas and rendered 107 consular services to the Indian nationals.
The Embassy has issued 64 Emergency Certificates in September to its nationals for their repatriation. It also issued 19 air tickets to needy people for their return to India in August.
An Embassy team visited the Central Prison and Deportation Centre this week to enquire about the welfare of detainees from India. The total number of Indians in the prison and the Centre currently is 206 and 81.
The monthly Open House was also held at the Embassy premises yesterday. Since January, nine Open Houses have been held.
A total of 47 complaints were received. Out of these, 33 complaints have been resolved, 14 are under active follow up.
The grievances brought to the notice related to issues of delayed payment of wages and violations of contract terms and conditions. Ambassador P. Kumaran, Third Secretary (Labour& Community Welfare) Dr M Aleem and other officials met all the complainants, discussed their problems in detail and assured them of the Embassy’s active follow up of their cases with the concerned authorities in the Government of Qatar.
Devis Edakulathur, President, Babu Rajan, Vice-President and Mahesh Gowda, General Secretary, Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), and some other members of the ICBF Management Committee also participated in the Open House.
