Next meeting of US-Qatar Business Council likely in September-end

DOHA: The next meeting of the US-Qatar Business Council (USQBC) will be held in the US between the end of September and early October, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani (pictured), Chairman of Qatar Chamber (QC) announced yesterday.

The Minister of Economy and Commerce, H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, will be accompanying the Qatari delegation to the US. The trade mission, during their stay in the US, will also conduct road-shows in some of the western states of the world’s largest economy, including California and Texas and other.

Commenting on yesterday’s USQBC meeting, Sheikh Khalifa said: “This was part of the series of meetings of the US-Qatar Business Council. Today we discussed the outcomes of our last visit to the US where we stayed 21 days and conducted several meetings and road-shows exploring business and investment opportunities between the two countries.”

During the meeting they also discussed ways of supporting local SMEs by engaging them with big American MNCs in Qatar for awarding job opportunities and supply contracts.

About the upcoming meeting of USQBC Sheikh Khalifa said that they are also working to publish a book on ‘How to do business in Qatar’ with special focus on American markets. The proposed book will also highlight economic reforms and the newly amended laws on business, investments, and tax and labour laws in Qatar.
