United Development Company (UDC), a leading Qatari public shareholding company and master developer of The PearlQatar and Gewan Island, has received the International Safety Award 2021 with Distinction by the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to safeguarding the Health and Safety of its community at The Pearl-Qatar and Gewan Island including workers and workplaces.

This award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated commitment to occupational health, safety and wellbeing where 85 organizations of all sizes and sectors in more than 37 countries worldwide, were awarded for their commitment to International Safety standards out of a total 532 candidates.

On the occasion of World Health and Safety Day, UDC has recognized eight contractors for their strong commitment to Health and Safety Management for their contribution to the milestone achievement of more than 27 million total safe man-hours in UDC’s projects across

The Pearl-Qatar and Gewan Island. UDC maintains the highest standard of Health and Safety by applying core strategic approaches to monitoring and regulating work environments in addition to promoting a culture of accountability to mitigate exposure to risks.

As such, UDC continues to conduct periodic safety and fire life safety inspections in addition to various audits and training, with zero lost time injury cases recorded for all UDC projects at The PearlQatar and Gewan Island.
