Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater meeting US Congress members.
Doha: Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met on Thursday with a delegation of members of Congress of the United States of America, in the presence of Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Qatar H E Natalie Baker.
The meeting reviewed the relations of cooperation between the two countries and the latest developments in the Afghan issue.
The meeting dealt with the efforts of the State of Qatar in Afghanistan and its assistance to the Afghan people in cooperation with relief and humanitarian organisations, in addition to emphasising the continuation of cooperation between the two countries in the Afghan file.
The US Congress delegation thanked the State of Qatar for its efforts and contributions to the evacuation and safe transit of Americans and holders of US residency from Afghanistan.
The Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also met on Thursday with Charge d’Affaires of the UK Mission to Afghanistan Hugo Shorter. During the meeting, they reviewed cooperation between the two countries in the Afghan issue, especially in the fields of humanitarian aid and education.
The two sides stressed the need for continued cooperation in providing and delivering humanitarian aid to the Afghan people and working to ensure the effectiveness of relief organisations inside Afghanistan.
The Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also met with Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights of the United Mexican States H E Martha Delgado Peralta, who is visiting the country.
During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, especially with regard to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar and the Mexican fans’ attendance of the major global event. Also, they discussed a number of issues of common interest, especially the right to education for all and the empowerment of women.
Assistant Foreign Minister expressed Qatar’s thanks to Mexico for receiving Afghan journalists after the State of Qatar hosted them among the people it evacuated to its lands before they headed to their final destinations. Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico expressed her country’s thanks to the State of Qatar for its efforts in evacuating foreign nationals and Afghan citizens and providing humanitarian aid in Afghanistan.
Ambassador of the United Mexican States to the State of Qatar H E Graciela Gomez Garcia attended the meeting.
