Doha: The General Authority of Customs (GAC)  launched its new visual identity, which included changing the official logo with a new modern logo that fits with the future phase of the Qatari customs journey.

Minister of Finance H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari and Chairman of the General Authority of Customs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal inaugurated the new logo in the presence of H E Ahmed bin Issa Al Muhannadi, Chairman of the General Tax Authority, and several officials.

The inauguration coincides with World Customs Day, celebrated annually on January 26 under the umbrella of the World Customs Organization. This year’s slogan is “A work environment for customs data based on trust.” The new logo expresses the shape of “the falcon’s eye”, which indicates visual acuity, constant vigilance, and control in various circumstances. The letter C refers to the first letter of the word “customs” in the Arabic language, as well as the dot of the letter C in the design presents two opposite arrows, indicating the role of customs in the import and export processes.

The upper curve in the logo symbolises the economic development indicator, showing the importance of customs in supporting the national economy. It also indicates that the GAC constitutes a protective shield to protect society. Two versions of the logo have been approved according to the nature of use, namely (the General Authority of Customs) and (Qatar Customs).

GAC Chairman stated that the Authority is keen to celebrate the International Day of Customs annually, achieve effective communication with all segments of society, and review the success achieved by the Authority, under the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

He highlighted the GAC’s activities in 2021 in implementing several projects and programmes supporting the development of the organisation’s work that serves its strategic plan and achieves Qatar National Vision 2030. Most notably, he pointed out the launch of the “sporting events” system to register entities participating in the 2022 World Cup and speed up their customs procedures. He also noted launching the new platform for the Al Nadeeb system for electronic customs clearance and developing the system’s infrastructure to keep pace with the highest international standards in customs services.

Al Jamal added, “I am pleased to announce on this day in the year 2022, the launch of the General Authority of Customs for its new visual identity, which represents a modern stage in the march of Qatari Customs. I thank the Qatari community for its response and support to Customs in carrying out its national tasks, and to the Authority’s partners from the public and private sectors for rational integration and coordination in the public interest, and to all customs officials at all state ports for their continuous efforts around the clock, which contribute to enhancing security and safety, and supporting the country’s national economy.”

It is worth noting that the new logo was designed through a competition open to citizens and residents during which more than 1,000 designs were registered. A specialized committee decided on the final logo in line with the Authority’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives.
