Dr Latifa Al-Meghaissib Assistant Professor of Educational Sciences explain the paintings to the attendees
The Media Chapter of the Alumni Association, in collaboration with the College of Education at Qatar University, organised recently an art exhibition under the title “My Paintbrush & the Blockade”.
The opening of the exhibition was preceded by Qatari artist, Abdulaziz Sadeq. The event aimed to showcase the paintings done by QU students who attended the course, “Visual Arts Integration”.
Dr Latifa Al Meghaissib, Assistant Professor of Educational Sciences, said: “During the Visual Art Integration class, I was surprised by the power of expression the student had when I asked them to draw paintings about the blockade. This made me think about presenting their work in this exhibition, which allowed the students to share their love and empathy toward Qatar.”
“Among them were those who highlighted the positive aspects of the blockade, such as the power of the State of Qatar and its achievements during the blockade, while others tackled the negative aspects, such as the human rights violations.”
Amna Abdulkarim, the Vice-President of the Media Chapter of the Alumni Association, said: “In the light of the blockade, our need for creativity as an outlet increases as the challenges of this reality increases. This is why we, at the Media Chapter, decided to support the students of the College of Education in their artistic views on the blockade and embrace what their brush strokes expressed.”
The “Visual Arts Integration” course is offered to undergraduate students of the College of Education to prepare them to be able to integrate visual arts in their teaching methods to facilitate the delivery of information to young students.
