The total assistance provided by the Zakat Fund at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs for needy families in the country last October totalled nearly QR18m, in the framework of the aids provided to eligible families registered, whose files exceed 2,000 files.
The fund said in a statement yesterday that the assistance included monthly aid or cut aid to be paid once as needed in accordance to specific needs and emergency conditions for the beneficiaries.
The Zakat Fund confirmed that this assistance is provided to its beneficiaries in accordance with the Shari’a rules and after conducting necessary social and field research procedures for those requesting assistance. It pointed out that the files of applicants for assistance are presented to the competent committees to assess their conditions, so as to ensure that the Zakat reaches to the actual beneficiaries. The Zakat Fund last October also has discussed 695 request help cases among it 168 new cases.
