Al Annabi ready for ‘difficult’ task: Hasan

Qatar Beach Handball team have kicked off their preparation for the ANOC World Beach Games and are ready for the ‘difficult’ task which lays ahead of them at the home event.

“We started our training camp four days back,” said coach Khalid Hasan, while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the beach Handball draw held yesterday at the Qatar Olympic Committee headquarters.

Hosts Qatar has been drawn along with Spain, Hungary, Croatia and Tunisia at event which will be held from October 12 to 16 in Doha.

The international beach multi-sport event is organised by the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and hosted by QOC in Doha.

“We will do our best. We have a difficult task ahead but be give our best especially as we are playing at home before our supporters,” added Hasan.

“We play Croatia and Hungary on the first day of our campaign and we are keen to start on a winning note. Croatia and Spain reached the quarter-finals of the World Championships,” the Qatar tactician said.

Group A consists of European giants Sweden and Denmark, and also includes USA, Australia and Brazil.

“We had the option as hosts to choose one of the group and we went for Group B and we are ready for it. Group A has World Championship winners Denmark and bronze medal winners Sweden. So there are no easy matches,” he added.

Two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-final.

Elaborating further on the training schedule Hasan added: “After our Doha training camp gets over, we will go and train overseas, possibly in Spain or Hungary. We will also play in a Friendly tournament before the start of the championship,” Hasan said.
