Doha: The Katara Cultural Village Foundation recently hosted the launch of the book “Witness Protection in International Agreements: A Comparative Study in Light of Qatari Legislation” by Qatari lawyer and professor, Ahmed Mohammed Mohsen Al-Dosari, in Hall 15 of Building.

The event was attended by a select group of those interested in legal and cultural affairs.

The book, published by Khutoot wa Dhilal Publishing and Distribution House in Jordan, addresses the topic of witness protection as a crucial legal issue related to achieving criminal justice. It reviews the concept of witness protection and its evolution in international agreements, in addition to examining the Qatari legislative framework and the legal and procedural protection mechanisms established for witnesses.

In discussing the book, the author emphasized that he sought to address a vital issue that constitutes one of the contemporary legal challenges: the protection of witnesses in complex criminal cases, particularly in transnational crimes such as terrorism, money laundering, and corruption.

In these cases, the witness is often the primary source of information that reveals the truth and leads to the conviction of perpetrators, making their protection an urgent necessity to ensure the integrity of the judicial system and enhance confidence in the authority of justice.

He also explained that he aimed to provide a comparative analytical reading that sheds light on the role of the witness in uncovering the truth and the challenges facing the provision of necessary protection for them, especially in cases of a serious nature. The book also explores ways to develop the legal system in a manner that strengthens confidence in justice and the rule of law.

The book is considered a valuable addition to legal research output, as it presents approaches that combine international agreements and national legislation, thus enriching specialized studies in the field of criminal justice and witness protection, as well as the Qatari legal library.

It is worth noting that Al-Dosari holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Mutah University in Jordan (2018) and a Master’s degree in International Criminal Justice from Lusail University (2025).

He is a certified legal trainer in Qatar and a member of the Qatar Bar Association. He has also published several research papers, including one on witness protection in international agreements and another on the legal framework for witness protection in Qatari and American legislation.
