Doha: Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) President Mohamed Saad Al Mughaiseeb has applauded the success of the Qatar men’s team which qualified for FIBA 3x3 Nations League U23 Finals to be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from September 13-15.
The Mongolia event is also a qualification event for the 3x3 world championship to be held in Poland at the end of September.
QBF President said the Qatar national team includes promising players among its ranks who will have a great future.
Al Mughaiseeb also praised the technical level of all competing teams in the Doha event,
Qatar men’s team finished at the top of the standings in the West Asia Conference, earning an aggregate of 520 points with Turkmenistan finishing second after a total of 500 points. Saudi Arabia finished third with 430 points followed by Jordan, who claimed 410 points from six Stops.
Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari, Secretary-General of QBF also praised the success of Qatar players. He stressed this achievement confirms the strength of Qatari basketball and its superiority in the competitions.
Besides winning first, fourth and the final stops, the Qatar men's team also secured second place in the second and third stops. They finished in fourth place in the penultimate stop.
In the women’s competitions, the Jordan national team qualified for the Mongolia finals winning five rounds out of the six, while Turkmenistan finished second, followed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar in the third and fourth positions respectively.
Along with Qatar, 12 other victorious teams from conferences around the globe will compete in the Mongolia finals this year. The Nations League Conference tournaments took place in Rizhao and Handan in China, and Voiron in France, apart from Doha.
