Amir, Ukraine President discuss regional, international developments

Doha, Qatar: The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine discussed the latest regional and international developments, particularly the escalating tensions in the region, including the ongoing Iranian aggression against Qatar and several other countries in the region, as well as the latest developments in the Ukrainian crisis. The meeting took place today at His Highness's office in Lusail Palace. 

The Ukrainian President reiterated his country's solidarity with Qatar, condemning the Iranian aggression and affirming Ukraine's support for the measures taken by Qatar to protect its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens.

For his part, His Highness the Amir welcomed the Ukrainian President and his accompanying delegation, expressing his gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency for his sincere sentiments and Ukraine's supportive stance in this regard.

During the meeting, both sides stressed the urgent need for an immediate cessation of all military actions that could expand the conflict in the Middle East and Ukraine. They warned of the repercussions of continued escalation on regional and international security, emphasizing the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and contain the current situation. They also stressed the need to work through diplomatic channels to contribute to strengthening international peace and security in light of the rapidly evolving challenges facing the international system.

The meeting also reviewed the relations of cooperation and friendship between the two countries and ways to develop them, particularly in the fields of technology, security, defense, and energy, in order to enhance the partnership between the two countries and open new horizons for bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was attended by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Chief of the Amiri Diwan, and a number of other high-ranking officials.

Attending the meeting from the Ukrainian side were Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council HE Rustem Umerov, First Deputy Head of the Office of the President HE Sergiy Kyslytsya, and a number of Their Excellencies members of the delegation accompanying HE the President.His Highness the Amir and His Excellency the President of Ukraine also held a bilateral meeting, during which they exchanged views on current regional and global developments of mutual interest. They emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two countries, particularly in light of current events and their repercussions on regional security and stability.

Following the meeting, His Highness the Amir hosted a luncheon in honor of His Excellency President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and his accompanying delegation.
