Debrecen, Hungary: Captain Hassan Al Haydos scored a brace including a spectacular winner as reigning Asian champions registered their second straight win at the European Zone FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers, beating Azerbaijan 2-1 at Nagyerdei Stadion in Debrecen, Hungary yesterday.
After Ramil Sheydayev put Azerbaijan ahead in 16th minute with a spot kick, Al Haydos, who was looking in good form yesterday, levelled the score in 55th minute.
The Qatari star then fired a stunning goal from a distance three minutes later to guide Al Annabi to their second win.
Qatar defeated Luxembourg 1-0 in their first match last week. The Felix Sanchez-coached side will now take on Ireland on March 30.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands got its World Cup qualification back on track yesterday by beating Latvia 2-0, while Turkey continued its strong start in Group G with a 3-0 victory over Norway to go top on goal difference.

Earlier yesterday, Montenegro beat Gibraltar 4-1 in Podgorica to make it two wins from two matches and take second place in the group.
