Doha: The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), continues the annual routine Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis vaccination campaign for students in the 10th grade.

The ministry revealed that 2,972 students have been vaccinated up until now from 41 private and community schools.  Teams from PHCC will start the vaccination program in government schools starting March 4 to 15.

The campaign started on February 18 and will run until March 15.

For the eighth consecutive year, the vaccinations are being held for government, private and community schools where the students are immunized against these three diseases, which are considered serious communicable diseases that may cause serious health complications.

The ministry urged parents to have their children take the vaccine and encouraged them to participate, highlighting the important role the vaccine plays in enhancing their children’s health and wellbeing and due to the effective protection it provides them against these high-risk communicable diseases.

This dose is one of the periodic immunizations for youth, which aim to strengthen their immunity for 10 years and is part of the series of vaccines essential to the schedule of vaccinations in Qatar, the ministry added.
