Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar took part in the 37th meeting of the Agricultural Cooperation and Food Security Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), with a delegation headed by Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah. The meeting was held yesterday, in the State of Kuwait.
During the meeting, Their Excellencies the Ministers discussed a number of topics on the agenda, including the GCC Food Security Strategy, the Plant Genetic Resources Bank, and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) program.
The meeting also reviewed the advisory services project for studying and evaluating modern technologies and artificial intelligence in farm management and productivity enhancement, implemented in cooperation with the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA).
Participants also reviewed a number of joint GCC legislations and systems, including the adoption of the Law (System) on Preventive Measures Against Infectious and Epidemic Animal Diseases, the adoption of the executive regulations of the Law (System) for the Practice of the Veterinary Profession, amendments to the executive regulations of the Veterinary Quarantine Law, as well as the adoption of the executive regulations of the Law (System) on Veterinary Products. The unified law (system) for the protection, development, and exploitation of living aquatic resources in GCC states was also discussed.
The meeting included a follow-up on the implementation of the resolutions issued by the Agricultural Cooperation and Food Security Committee during its 34th meeting.
The 36th meeting of the Agricultural Cooperation and Food Security Committee was held in Doha on 5 September 2024, chaired by the Minister of Municipality.
